Little Things to Save the Planet

I love Mother Earth! Yes, I do. A walk through a green forest, along the windy seaside or watching animals jumping or flying around. Thatโ€™s great, isn’t it? So, I feel guilty when I see how humanity exploit our planet and do not properly take care of it. Like a throwaway thing! Sure, let’s go to the next planet if this one is not good enough any longer? Yes, if it were that easy…

On the other hand, I am also not consistent with my actions, as I do not see the problems and consequences day by day in front of my door. I want to change that!

Taking a step back, what do I do already in the daily life? As it is beyond my endurance to buy exclusively organic food, at least I buy eco-friendly cleaning agent. Then, of course, I have an electricity contract for renewable energies. Both are very straightforward.

And what’s next? That’s more difficult to answer. I googled around to find little ‘no-brainers’, which do not sacrifice any comfort.

I found was a funny TED video about how to use paper towels in a more efficient way. Shake your wet hands 12 times and use only one paper towel. Yes, only one! I tried it and it works surprisingly good! Before that, you could see me using two or even three paper towels at work. Even if I only save one each time, it could be – rough calculation – 200…300 per year!

It is not only about the big things. There are also little things that make a (huge) difference, if we all do them every day.

Do you have more ideas, simple enough and scalable, so that everybody can do them? Please leave a comment!

I often dry my hands on myself. Zero waste!

I have tried this method last weekend during a training (and I obviously hadn’t read your post yet, there must be some global changes in the air ๐Ÿ˜‰ – it does work ! The last thing I have done/changed at home since a few months now is start a “compost” bag. So i have reduced my “normal” bin bag. Quite happy and proud about that ! Yesterday I also found sustainable chocolate (at Mike & Becky’s – for example) – and you can bring back your packet when it’s empty to put a new bar in (do you say bar or tablet ??) ๐Ÿ˜‰
